The program includes a comprehensive background on osteoporosis, bone biology, and changes associated with age; the importance of recognizing the risk factors for osteoporosis; diagnostic techniques and the roles of calcium and vitamin D in bone health; treatment strategies and outcome measurements; and clinical trial data and their importance in everyday practice. The importance of early and aggressive treatment with bisphosphonates to reduce the risk of osteoporotic fractures in patients, and the critical role of vitamin D in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis are also discussed.
This course has been developed for primary care physicians, obstetricians and gynecologists, endocrinologists, rheumatologists, and other healthcare professionals who treat patients at risk for osteoporosis.
