The Bone Health Advisory Council (BHAC) brings together the nation's leading osteoporosis specialists to develop and deliver clinically relevant medical education programs that help physicians and other healthcare professionals to improve their patients' bone health.
The Surgeon General's Report on Bone Health and Osteoporosis is a wake-up call for the healthcare community on the seriousness and long-term implications of this debilitating disease. Although osteoporosis is treatable, it is under-recognized and under-treated. An estimated 10 million Americans have osteoporosis and another 34 million are at risk. As the U.S. population ages, this number will continue to rise.
The mission of the BHAC is to produce educational programs that keep medical professionals up to date on the latest osteoporosis findings and demonstrate ways to raise the standard of screening, diagnosis, and prevention in daily practice.
